Can 10-min workouts really be enough?

Can 10-min workouts really be enough?

Could a 10-minute workout really be enough?

Before COVID-19 I wrestled with that same question.  It is embarrassing to admit, but I truly believed for a workout to be effective it MUST be at least 55-60 minutes.

I had an ALL-OR-NOTHING mindset.  If my schedule did not allow for a 60min workout, I would just do nothing.  Or if I did a shorter workout, I had feelings that it was not good enough!

My schedule inflexibility left me feeling stuck and kept me from reaching my full potential.

Over the past year I have had so much fun exploring & enjoying shorter workouts.

Did you catch that? I said, “Enjoy!”

I have come to love shorter workouts and here is why:

1.    They are Achievable

Shorter workouts are achievable!  Finding small pockets of time during your day is very possible.  It is something you could easily squeeze into your day!  Committing to 10 minutes makes getting started a lot less daunting and you can stick with it.

2.    They can Improve Your Mood

Believe it or not you can improve your mood in 10 minutes!  Research shows that 10 minutes of exercise can improve your mood and increase your happiness! The next time you experience an energy slump at work go outside for a 10-minute walk.  Or start your morning feeling strong & powerful with a 10-minute resistance training video.

     3.  They are Sufficient

A mini sweat session performed at an appropriate intensity can leave you feeling energized and help you stay on track with your fitness regimen.  Shorter workouts can be just as powerful as longer ones because it’s easier to stay in the zone for small pockets of time.

I have personally noticed how impactful it can be to swap longer workouts for shorter ones. I am more focused and intentional.  You too can boost your energy in just 10 minutes.  You can feel strong, enjoy moving your body, improve your focus, and breathe.

How you think about exercise greatly influences your motivation and outcomes!  The ultimate goal here is to find a routine that works for you and your schedule.
